We have all seen climate changes in our local areas. Peru is not exempt. Bitter cold has disrupted the mountains, and in May of this year, unprecedented snowfall was seen in our communities. In response to this unexpected winter weather, Path of the Heart responded with deliveries of warm clothing in May and again in mid July. In May, we delivered 60 clothing packages to the sector of CCahuan - located between 13,500 to 15,000 feet high. In July, we delivered warm clothing to over 100 children in the community of Rumira Sondor Mayu.
Washi shared some of the details of the situation with our board, and the incredible ways that POTH was able to help!
When I arrive the grass of the mountain was frozen, also part of the river water, some of the kids with bare foot or just with open shoes made of car rubber, I have use them too when I was a kid and I know how cold is. After warming our native children with the amazing woolen gloves, woolen stockings, woolen hats with ears, trousers, coats and boots and shoes that POTH provided, I slept for few more hours in the native home because it was really cold and all my body was cold, at the end I haven’t recuperated my feet was cold and I had to drive back to be warm again in the valley.
All this was coordinated with Noemi Machuca a brave woman, who made the list for most of the kids that were everyday on serious cold conditions, specially the little ones who we brought clothes to them, we served everyone and at this community all kids now have clothes to resist the severe low temperature. Thanks to you all for giving me an opportunity to be a bridge and share with our kids who sent you lots of Love.
